Whole cell extracts of B. burgdorferi also modulated immune responses but required a much greater quantity of protein than needed for the OspA preparation. The magnitude of modulation was directly dependent on the quantity of OspA. OspA interferes with the response of lymphocytes to proliferative stimuli including a blocking of cell cycle phase progression.

Martin went back home to Germany because he did not find the Multiple Sclerosis form of Lyme to be due to autoreactive T cells, so it must be due to OspA-HIV-Pam3Cys Immune Suppression and Persisting Infection, since that's what all of IDSA's and everyone else's scientific data says.
